Catinaccio - Latemar in the holiday region Dolomites

The South Tyrolean region Catinaccio – Latemar, called Rosengarten – Latemar in German, comprises the municipalities of Ega and Obereggen, Tires, Nova Ponente, Nova Levante, Collepietra, and Cornedo.

The region is located east of the provincial capital of Bolzano and extends over an area of 250 square kilometres from the Valle di Tires and the Gummerer Hill to the Carezza Lake and the Val d’Ega. The mountain Sciliar marks the northern end of this region.

High above the Gorge of Val d’Ega thrones the Cornedo Castle. It was built around 1200 by the Nobles of Greifenstein and ranks among South Tyrol’s most beautiful castle complexes.
